  1. Essential stretching exercises to prevent injury

•Proper baseball mechanics to create consistent pitch delivery

•Good sportsmanship

•Positive mental approach

My goal is to help your athlete reach their maximum potential now and for the future by teaching:

This will be accomplished primarily through throwing drills, breaking bad habits, exercises and technique repetition. I will evaluate your athlete at the end of each lesson to identify strengths and weaknesses. I am committed to achieving improvement in your athlete but reaching consistent, positive results is a process dependent on time, talent and dedication from your athlete.

Solid mechanics and mental toughness are two important components to achieving success with pitching. But most of all, pitchers need to be consistent. Greg Maddux said,

Consistency is something you can always improve on. You can be more

consistent with your mental approach, the things you do physically on

the mound. Instead of doing 5 good pitches an inning, try to make six.

You can always do more of what you are doing well and try to be as

                                                consistent as you can be.

Consistency is what makes good pitchers, great pitchers. Developing and tuning consistent, accurate mechanics is a primary goal when I work with young pitchers. Developing proper mechanics will give maximum results and help prevent injury. Unfortunately, most young pitchers have been taught improper technique and mechanics or have received very poor instruction. The combination of bad mechanics and poor teaching prevents players from reaching their potential and increases the likelihood of serious injury, jeopardizing their future in baseball.

"Hitting is timing. Pitching is upsetting timing.”

                                                          - Warren Spahn

I won 50 games over the course of my career in the majors but they did not come easily. There are some pitchers who can throw 97 mph, make it look easy, and dominate even the best of line-ups. This was not me. I was the type of pitcher baseball calls a control or “finesse” pitcher, relying on the accuracy of my pitches over“power" or velocity. Working with only average velocity demanded that I focus on changing speeds and locations to keep hitters off balance. Many great coaches taught me how to be a better pitcher and what it took to get the most out of my ability during my years in the game. Now I want to share my knowledge and experience to young players seeking to maximize their potential.

The next generation of major league players will have to be faster, more conditioned and more disciplined than any of the players who have come before them. With the expansion of baseball as a global sport, the draft pool grows every year. This increases the competition and decreases the probability of making it to the major leagues. As a result, it is more advantageous for young players to receive expert instruction from an experienced professional.

I hope you will choose to help your child build a solid foundation by inquiring about private lessons with me. I will work with you to help provide the best instruction to maximize their potential and add longevity to their playing career.

"Baseball is ninety percent mental. The other half is physical.”

                                  - Yogi Berra

“If you’re not practicing, somebody else is, somewhere, and he’ll be ready to take your job.”

                                                                                                            - Brooks Robinson
